O Minotauro Global do título é a capacidade única dos EUA de manterem o que os economistas chamam de déficits gêmeos (fiscal e comercial). Varoufakis faz um breve histórico de como o país chegou até essa situação e como a crise de 2008 abalou sua continuidade. A obra se mostra extremamente atual e pertinente, pois no momento em que escrevo essa resenha (julho/2018), o Presidente Trump promove em nome dos EUA uma guerra comercial e uma forte pressão aos seus aliados da OTAN para quem aumentem seus gastos militares (em produtos da indústria bélica americana, claro). Esses dois aspectos são claros sintomas da "doença" que afeta o "Minotauro" e está muito bem exposta pelo autor.
