O livro começa confuso. O tempo a cada capítulo volta a década de 1930, avança a 1940 e assim se alternando com personagens aleatórios. Até que as peças começam a se juntar e ganhar conexão. A história de Phill é inspiradora e emocionante. Sua paixão pela corrida é o combustível mais forte já experimentado.
